How do I change my location?
On Home, tap the location button beside the Hamblin Weather logo. Search for a U.S. city or ZIP code, or tap Use My Location. You can also open More → Location. Changing the selection updates Home weather and the area used for official alert matching after its forecast-area information loads.
Why am I not getting notifications?
Open More → Notifications and check that notifications are enabled and the category you want is on. For an Official NWS product, the master Official NWS switch and that individual alert type must both be on. Also check Android notification permission, the app's notification channels, battery/data restrictions, network access, and Do Not Disturb settings. Registration does not guarantee delivery; the operating system or delivery provider can delay or prevent a notification.
How do Official NWS Alerts work?
If you opt in, Hamblin Weather checks supported active National Weather Service products and matches them to your selected forecast point using official geometry or structured NWS zone identifiers. Official products are labeled Official NWS and kept separate from Hamblin Weather editorial updates. You choose which supported warnings, watches, and advisories you want to receive.
What happens if I disable a specific alert type?
That product will not be sent automatically to this installation even if the Official NWS master switch remains on. Other enabled choices are unchanged. Turning the master switch off stops all automatic Official NWS alerts but saves the individual selections for restoration when the master switch is turned back on.
Why can an alert expire before I tap it?
NWS alerts can expire, be cancelled, or be replaced quickly. A notification may remain in Android's notification shade after the active alert ends. Opening it then takes you to Alerts and explains that the alert is no longer active instead of showing stale safety information.
Does Hamblin Weather track me?
No continuous or background location tracking is used. If you tap Use My Location, the app requests a one-time foreground location while that action is running. You can use city/ZIP search instead. The selected point is rounded before storage/weather use. Automatic official alerts use a minimized target containing the rounded point, state, and official NWS zone identifiers.
How do I turn off location permission?
Open Android Settings → Apps → Hamblin Weather → Permissions → Location and choose Don't allow. Menu names can vary by Android version. A previously selected location can still be used, and you can choose a different place manually.
How do I turn off notifications?
Use More → Notifications → Disable Notifications to deactivate backend registration while preserving local category choices. You can also revoke notification permission in Android Settings. Turning off only Official NWS Alerts leaves enabled Hamblin Weather manual categories available.
How do I request access to or deletion of app data?
Email hamblinweather@gmail.com. Hamblin Weather aims to respond within 30 days unless applicable law requires otherwise. The app does not create normal named consumer accounts, so some operational records may be associated only with an anonymous installation identifier and may not be locatable without enough information to identify that installation. You may also disable notifications, remove app permissions, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
Is Hamblin Weather the National Weather Service?
No. Hamblin Weather is independent and is not a government agency. The app displays official NWS data with clear source labels and separately labels Hamblin Weather editorial forecasts, updates, live coverage, and videos.
What should I do if weather data does not load?
Check your internet connection and pull down to refresh. The app may show a clearly marked saved forecast or saved unexpired alerts while offline. Try Choose Another Location if the selected point cannot be resolved. During changing or dangerous weather, use multiple trusted sources, including weather.gov, local officials, NOAA Weather Radio, and other reliable warning methods.
Why doesn't Live play?
Check your internet connection and the status shown on the Live tab. Hamblin Weather can mark coverage offline when no live program is available. When coverage is available, Watch Live opens the approved stream experience and Open Externally opens its YouTube destination. YouTube availability, embedding restrictions, a removed stream, or an upstream outage can still prevent playback.
Why are no Videos showing?
Check your connection, then reopen Videos or refresh the app. Videos come from published Hamblin Weather records or the fixed public Hamblin Weather YouTube playlist when no published records are available. A private, removed, unavailable, or newly published YouTube video may not appear immediately. If a listed video will not play, try its YouTube watch page.
